According to an eyewitness, the deceased was travelling with other members of his football academy in two separate vehicles to attend a football match when the accident occurred.

The eyewitness said a trailer suddenly crossed from the opposite direction and rammed into their Mercedes-Benz C300, forcing the car into a bus.

“We were going for a match. We just saw a trailer cross from the other side and hit this Benz, then it hit the bus,” the eyewitness said.

He added that only one person in the Mercedes-Benz died, while the other occupants survived. Passengers in the bus were also reportedly unharmed.

The eyewitness further alleged that the trailer driver fled the scene with his vehicle immediately after the collision.

The Mercedes-Benz, with registration number SMK-878KX, was severely damaged in the crash.

Emergency responders were subsequently deployed to the scene to assist with clearing the wreckage and restoring traffic movement along the highway.
