The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has dismissed reports of a political alliance with Governor Bala Mohammed and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The party also asked the governor to formally join the APC if he wants to align the state with the Federal Government.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Shehu Udubo, said the party had no knowledge of any political agreement of the nature being circulated by the governor’s associates.

Udubo urged the public to treat reports of such arrangement with caution, insisting the party was unaware of any agreement with Mohammed outside the APC.

He also questioned the claims of an alliance, citing Mohammed’s continued association with and campaign activities alongside APM candidates, including the party’s presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde.

“The APC Bauchi State Chapter welcomes Governor Bala Mohammed’s appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms, health sector interventions, and invites him to abort his ill-fated sojourn in the APM by formally joining the All Progressives Congress,” the statement read.

“If the Governor genuinely wishes to align Bauchi State with the Federal Government’s development agenda, joining the APC would provide a clear and consistent political platform for cooperation, coordination, and the advancement of the interests of the people of Bauchi State. Bauchi State is too strategic to remain on the sidelines of Nigeria’s mainstream politics.

“Our position is driven by the need to strengthen collaboration between the state and federal governments, attract more development opportunities, improve access to federal programmes, and promote the overall welfare of the people.”

Udubo reaffirmed the Bauchi APC’s commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the party wanted the state to benefit from the Federal Government’s policies and development initiatives.

He urged residents to remain calm and focus on good governance, development, unity and welfare of the state.
