In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the achievement as remarkable, noting that it had brought pride and joy to Nigerians at home and abroad.
He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to win the trophy, urging the players to approach the final with the same determination and belief that had taken them this far.
“I encourage you to approach the final with the same fighting spirit and belief that have brought you this far. I have confidence in your ability to make history by winning the coveted world title,” Tinubu said.
The President also called on Nigerians to support the young players as they prepare for the decisive encounter, describing them as ambassadors of the country whose achievements would inspire more girls to pursue careers in sports.
“Once again, Nigeria is proud of you. Go for the trophy, Flamingos!” he added.
The Flamingos secured their maiden appearance in the final with an impressive second-half performance against Brazil.
Queen Joseph opened the scoring in the 56th minute before providing the assist for Awawu Bashiru to double Nigeria’s lead in the 71st minute.
