A Somali police officer has died after he was struck by a still-rotating aircraft propeller shortly after landing at Dhuusamareeb Airport in central Somalia on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The victim was a member of the security detail accompanying the Banaadir Regional Police Commissioner, Ma'alin Mahdi, on an official visit to the Galmudug region.

According to flight360aero, the aircraft had landed safely and the delegation was disembarking when the incident occurred.

Footage of the incident shows the uniformed officer walking away from the aircraft while its propeller was still spinning.

He was struck by the rotating blades and died at the scene.

The incident has raised questions about passenger disembarkation procedures, ground safety coordination and the measures in place to protect people operating around aircraft.

Aviation experts have repeatedly warned that a landed aircraft is not necessarily safe to approach, as a rotating propeller remains a potentially lethal hazard.
